Pedestrian killed by vehicle in New Paltz

NEW PALTZ – A man attempting to walk across Main Street in New Paltz was struck and killed by a passing motorist around 5:30 Monday afternoon.

New Paltz Police said the victim was found lying in the road. It was determined he was struck by a vehicle traveling east on Main Street and was knocked to the ground. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

New Paltz Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call them at 845-255-1323. All calls will be kept confidential.

New Paltz Police were assisted at the scene by the New Paltz Fire Department and New Paltz Rescue Squad.
