Sayegh announces candidacy for Mayer’s Assembly seat

YONKERS – Yonkers Board of Education Trustee Nader Sayegh announced he will run for the 90th District Assembly post left vacant with the victory of Shelley Meyer to the State Senate earlier this month.

“My intention is to continue what she started and to add to it,” he said.

The Assembly district encompasses most of the City of Yonkers and Sayegh said it has “an immediate need for investment in job growth, infrastructure, and education, all of which deeply impact the middle class.”

He said he will focus on three immediate areas of concern – to ensure that Yonkers public schools receive “the share of state funding it is entitled to and deserves,” to reduce the tax burden on middle-class taxpayers; and to grow economic opportunity and security in the district.
