Missing NYC teacher died in Ulster County woods

SHANDAKEN – A New York City music teacher, who was reported missing for over a week, was found in a wooded area in the Town of Shandaken on Saturday.

Police said Keith Johnson, 46, of Queens, was last seen on May 4.

He is believed to have gone hiking alone in the Ulster County woods. His car was located at a trailhead. He was discovered miles away.  Some media reports say he was found dead but others say he died a short time later.

Police do not suspect foul play in the man’s death.
