Announced attorney general candidate wants interim appointment

NEW CITY – Rockland County Government Attorney Thomas Humbach has requested that he be considered for appointment as the state attorney general to serve through the end of the year.

Humbach earlier this week announced his candidacy for the AG’s post in the November election.

The position was vacated early this past week when Eric Schneiderman resigned after allegations surfaced that he had assaulted former girlfriends.

“This is a challenging time for the people of this state,” said Humbach, “In a process that is already said to be ‘locked up’ by another person seeking this office, in exchange for a political deal, I want to make a difference by being independent.”
