Man jumps to his death from Bear Mountain Bridge

CORTLANDT – A man committed suicide by jumping off the Bear Mountain Bridge Tuesday evening, State Police said. The man, whose identity has not been made public, jumped from the mid-span.

Police said the 25-year-old Mount Pleasant man parked his car on Route 9D, walked out onto the bridge and jumped at arounf 5:50 p.m.

Marine units from several counties responded and recovered the body around 7:30 p.m.

The incident is being investigated by troopers from the Cortlandt State Police barracks.
