MID-HUDSON – Several thousand people are still without power from last Friday’s winter storm which dumped snow and ice on the region along with high winds that brought down trees, utility poles and wires.

Now, a second storm, promising to dump over a foot of snow is overspreading the region.

By Tuesday evening, school districts and many municipalities had already announced they would close on Wednesday.

Municipal plow trucks were filled with road salt and the governor had already put in place a ban for certain travel.

Tractor-trailers, tandem trailers, buses, box trucks and other high-profile vehicle are restricted from Interstate 84 from the Connecticut state line to the Pennsylvania line and on I-684 to I-287 in Westchester County.  Pennsylvania has a similar ban on I-84, from the Delaware River west.
