Details of accident involving school bus released

ESOPUS – Ulster County Sheriff’s investigators said a minivan belonging to the Devereaux Foundation in Red Hook, driven by James Garnett, 39, of Hyde Park, crossed lanes of traffic on Route 9W in the Town of Esopus at 8:30 a.m. Monday and struck a southbound school bus.

No children were on the New Paltz Central School District bus driven by Tersa Faso, 40, of Kerhonkson.

Both drivers were transported by ambulance to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in Garnett’s vehicle was uninjured.

No tickets were issues, but the investigation remains open.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any additional information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 845-338-3640.

Deputies were assisted by the State Police and Esopus Fire Department.
