Orange County Democratic Party leadership likely to change this fall

GOSHEN – The current chairman of the Orange County Democratic Committee, Brett Broge, is running for the State Assembly in the 99th District in November as current Assemblyman James Skoufis runs for the State Senate.

Broge said assuming he is the party’s candidate in the fall, he will give up his leadership role.

“If I am the candidate in September after the primary – at this point in time I don’t have any sort of an opponent – but if I am the candidate in September, I wouldn’t run for re-election in September also. Ten days after the primary I would have my re-election for the county committee chair, so I wouldn’t run for that spot if I was the candidate in September.”

Broge will face a challenge from Republican Colin Schmitt in the general election for the Assembly seat.
