Ulster Jail inmate accused of having drugs

KINGSTON – A Poughkeepsie man, who is incarcerated in the Ulster County jail, is charged with promoting prison contraband as a felony and misdemeanor drug possession.

Anthony Abbott, 35, was charged after authorities searched his cell at the Ulster County Jail in Kingston early in the morning of June 4 and found him in possession of buprenorphine, a controlled substance.

He had been sentenced on an unrelated charge of robbery and was awaiting transfer to the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill.
