Four Middletown schools to receive city SROs

MIDDLETOWN – Four of the school buildings in the City of Middletown will each receive a police department school resource officer as the common council Tuesday night approved hiring additional personnel for the positions.

Police Chief John Ewanciw said the school district will reimburse the city for the school building staffing.

“I also believe the input that I have received through the community this is a sought-after program throughout the community,” Ewanciw said. “It brings a lot to, not only the community; it improves the safety in the schools; it improves the relationships with us, the police department and the youth and the community as a whole. I believe the value of the program outweighs the cost associated with it.”

Schools to receive SROs include the high school, Twin Towers, Truman Moon and Presidential Park Elementary School.
