Fire damages Kingston home

KINGSTON – Fire late Tuesday morning gutted a back porch and rear portion of the first floor of a single-family house at 68 Pine Grove Avenue in Kingston.

Firefighters were on the scene three minutes after the 11 a.m. call came in.

The three-alarm fire started in the enclosed rear porch and extended into the first floor of the house with heat, smoke and water damage to the second floor and attic. It took firefighters 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control. Kingston firemen were back to their stations at 1:35 p.m.

The two occupants escaped uninjured and no firefighters were hurt during the operations.

The cause is undetermined and under investigation, said Fire Lt. Andrew Nilsen.

Port Ewen and Ulster Hose fire departments assisted at the scene along with Mobile Life Support Services.
