Albany man charged with felony DWAI, marijuana possession, on Thruway

PLATTEKILL – A late night traffic stop on the Thruway in the Town of Plattekill on Wednesday led to the arrest by State Police of an Albany man.

Ryan Hand, 24, was initially stopped for an equipment violation. He was found to be impaired by drugs and in possession of 30 grams of marijuana, three grams of concentrated marijuana wax, and oxycodone pills weighing under one gram.  He also submitted to a blood draw to determine the drug content in his system.

Hand was charged with three misdemeanor counts of drug possession, a felony for driving while ability impaired by drugs with a prior conviction within 10 years, a felony of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a violation of unlawful possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor for criminal possession of marijuana and vehicle and traffic violations.
