Five people displaced when fire destroys Arlington house

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Five people were displaced when fire tore through a house at 32A Spring Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Wednesday night. No civilians were injured, but two firefighters received minor injuries in the two-alarm call.

The Red Cross provided assistance.

Arlington firefighters responded first to the 9:45 p.m. call with investigators from that department and Town of Poughkeepsie Police determining the fire was accidental and related to the failure of electrical distribution equipment.

Assisting at the scene were the New Hamburg Fire Department, Mobile Life Support Services, Town of Poughkeepsie Police and Building Department, Dutchess County Department of Emergency services and Central Hudson Gas and Electric.  New Hackensack, New Hamburg and Pleasant Valley firefighters were on standby to cover Arlington stations.
