2018 will be a pivotal year for Sullivan, says Alvarez

Alvarez sworn in as chairman for 2018

MONTICELLO – Perhaps the most significant event in the recent history of Sullivan County is just over a month away.

Sullivan County Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez said impacts are being felt already.

“The casino is going to open that time so you can see right now the amount of people moving into Sullivan County, the amount of businesses that are moving into Sullivan County.  It’s going to be a monumental task.”

Alvarez said he, his eight legislature colleagues and the county administration, are up to the challenge.

“It’s a lot of work and this is a body of legislators that is working together to get forward in Sullivan.”

Alvarez was unanimously re-elected chairman of the legislature for another year during a brief reorganization meeting on Friday.
