Warrant search leads to felony drug and weapons arrest

POUGHKEEPSIE – A warrant search at an apartment at 6 Balding Avenue in the City of Poughkeepsie on Wednesday resulted in the seizure of drugs and cash and the arrest of a citizen of Barbados who was living there.

The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department’s Neighborhood Recovery Unit, the Emergency Services Unit and State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team executed the search warrant following an investigation into illegal drug sales there.

Erick John, 29, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Seized in the raid were 21 grams of cocaine, a loaded .380 caliber handgun, over $8,200 in cash, marijuana and several items used in the distribution of drugs.
