Two Liberty men arrested after stabbing

LIBERTY – Two Liberty men have been arrested by Village of Liberty Police following an assault early Sunday, December 2.

Arrested were and Barry Bowser, 50, and Carlos Williams, 45.

A police officer on routine patrol spotted the men fighting in the middle of Mill Street. As the officer got out of the patrol car, Williams fled into a nearby apartment building. Bowser was found to have a stab wound to his head. Williams was apprehended and arrested inside the apartment building and Bowser was transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center.

Investigation revealed Bowser had broken into Williams’ apartment and struck him with a two-by-four piece of lumber. Williams then chased Bowser out of the building and stabbed him in the head with a knife. Williams fled into the apartment building where he attempted to conceal the knife he used by hiding it inside.

Bowser was arrested after being released from the hospital and was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence, all as felonies.

Bowser was charged with burglary, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

Both men were sent to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
