Dutchess felon gets two years in federal pen for illegal gun possession

ALBANY – A Wingdale man with two prior felony convictions, including a federal conviction for being a felon in possession of firearms, was sentenced in federal court in Albany on Thursday to 24 months in prison.

Christopher Mikelinich, 53, previously pled guilty to illegally possessing a stolen 12 gauge, semi-automatic shotgun over a 2 ½ year period during which he lived in Ancram in Columbia County.

The shotgun had previously been stolen from its owner’s vehicle in New Windsor in 2004 and was purchased by Mikelinich from a coworker.

This case was investigated by ATF, State Police, Columbia County District Attorney and Sheriff’s Office, and was prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Emmet O’Hanlon.
