First year of rail-biking successful

KINGSTON – The first year of rail biking along the Esopus Creek was a success this past summer with the operator, Rail Explorers, filling up every seat on weekends.

Ulster County Executive Michael Hein said it added immensely to the county’s long list of tourism attractions.

“Their first year was an overwhelming success selling out every weekend and drawing over 10,000 riders while receiving rave reviews and providing huge additional benefits to local businesses along the way,” he said.

The rail biking has also boosted tourist at its headquarters, the Empire State Railway Museum, the recently refurbished classic train station in Phoenicia.
