Amazon ‘kicks the tires’ for possible Orange County site

GOSHEN – Amazon, the online megastore where you can buy almost everythng, is exploring options to locate one or more regional distribution centers in the northeast. Now comes word that Orange County is one area being considered.

County Executive Steven Neuhaus cautions that nothing is carved in stone although he does note the county has several suitable sites for such a distribution facility.

“Amazon, just like a million other companies are weighing their options and I think Orange County has some strong sites to show, but I haven’t seen anything that tells me they are definitely going to come here or not,” Neuhaus said. “But, we have had a lot of interest from a lot of big companies – theme-type companies, waterpark companies, big corporations.”

Several months ago, Westchester County put a package together in effort to have the Internet store locate a northeast distribution center there.
