Kingston woman arrested for welfare fraud

KINGSTON – A Kingston woman was arrested on Friday on felony charges of welfare fraud and three counts of offering a false instrument for filing.

An investigation by the Ulster County Department of Social Services and District Attorney’s Office found that Marie Mullings, 28, allegedly did not report her correct household composition and income to DSS from August 2016 to April 2018. She filed several SNAP (food stamp) applications during that time period, not disclosing her income, resulting in her receiving $6,901 in SNAP benefits to which she was not entitled.

Mullings was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Ulster Town Court.
