Eight arrested in Newburgh prostitution sting

NEWBURGH – Newburgh City and State Police Wednesday conducted a prostitution operation to address complaints from city residents. Five women were and three men were arrested.

Charged with prostitution were city residents Trenette Melvin, 48; Monica Diaz, 35; Carol Depalma, 39; Sierra Verdon, 22; and 42-year-old Christine Spencer.

Charged with patronizing a prostitute were Bernardino Rianchos, 51, of the City of Newburgh; Emilio Cortes,46, of the Town of Gardiner; and Robert Espinoza, 54, of Bakersfield, California.

Police also arrested a juvenile who was charged with felony and misdemeanor drug possession.
