Spring Valley man seriously hurt in fall from tree

STONY POINT – A 53-year-old Spring Valley man, who was at a friend’s home on North Liberty Drive in Tomkins Cove on Tuesday, fell 10 to 20 feet to the ground from a tree he was cutting.

Stony Point police said the man was flown to Westchester Medical Center in serious condition with abdominal injuries. He is expected to survive.

Police said the man had fallen around 11:45 a.m. after a large section of the tree he was cutting knocked into the ladder he was on and threw him to the ground.

The incident is being investigated as accidental.

Police did not release the man’s name.
