Wurtsboro man killed in crash

SUMMITVILLE – A Wurtsboro man was killed minutes before midnight on Friday when the car in which he was a passenger ran off Route 209 in Summitville and struck a tree.

George Williams, III, 26, died at the scene.

The driver, Luke Dardis, 21, of Stamford, Connecticut, was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla in serious, but stable condition.  Dardis was charged with driving while intoxicated pending the outcome of a full investigation.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the State Police Troop F Accident Reconstruction Team.
