Hyde Park man killed in two-vehicle crash

TOWN OF NORTH EAST – A Hyde Park man was killed Saturday afternoon when his pickup truck crossed into the opposite lane on Route 22 near Irondale Road in the Town of North East and struck another pickup head-on.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Brian Sherow, 53, who was transported to Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the other vehicle, Eftichia Amouris, 49, of Hillsdale, was initially transported to Sharon Hospital and later transferred to Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie with non-life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Village of Millerton Police, the Millerton Fire Department, Northern Dutchess Paramedics, was transported to the hospital by Copake Community Rescue Squad.

No charges were initially filed, but the investigation into the crash is continuing.
