Marlboro pair arrested with arsenal of weapons

MARLBORO – A Marlboro man and woman were arrested on Friday and a cache of weapons were seized at their Route 9W residence following an investigation involving several Ulster County police agencies.

The investigation began when Marlboro Police received a tip that a woman was trying to sell an unregistered 44 magnum handgun. Leasha Ladow, 49, of Marlboro was located with the gun in Milton.

The URGENT Task Force was notified and investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a Route 9W residence she shared with Aaron Busch, 34.  Police found five unregistered handguns, four shotguns, a knife, two metal knuckle knives, a switchblade knife, and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

When Busch came home during the police search, he fled, but was apprehended.

Ladow and Busch were each charged with several crimes including criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon. Other charges are possible as police determine the origin of the weapons. Both are in the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

Agencies involved in the investigation included town police from Marlboro, Woodstock, Shandaken, Plattekill, New Paltz and Saugerties, Kingston City Police, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, Ulster County Probation URGENT and the US Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
