Nevele up for sale in procedural move

Nevele complex

ELLENVILLE – The Nevele Hotel and Resort in Ellenville/Wawarsing is being offered for sale.

Gary DiMauro Real Estate announced that it is the exclusive agent for the transaction. Investment company iStar has placed the 564-acre property up for sale, said Susan Barnett, licensed associate broker with the DiMauro agency. Officials from iStar did not return a call for comment.

Ellenville Mayor Jeffrey Kaplan said the move is a procedural one to clear the way for Nevele Investors LLC to move forward with their plans to develop a family sports resort.

The Nevele, which included one of the Catskills’ premier golf courses, closed its doors in 2009. In 2012 Nevele Investors LLC bought the facility.

As the state conducted its process to select a site for a Las Vegas-style casino in the Catskills/Mid-Hudson region, the Nevele was advanced as one of the locations.  The Empire Resorts property in Sullivan County was chosen and the Resorts World casino/resort will next spring.
