Wallkill hotel developer seeks IDA benefits

TOWN OF WALLKILL – A 93-room Holiday Inn Express hotel is planned on East Main Street in the Town of Wallkill and the developer is seeking financial benefits from the Orange County Industrial Development Agency.

Med Parc LLC officials made their request to the IDA Board on Thursday, said its chief operating officer, Laurie Villasuso.

“It’s a $14 million project; it’s a 54,000 square foot Holiday Inn Express,” Villasuso said. “They are looking for a mortgage recording tax exemption and a sales tax exemption; it’s not a PILOT. They are going to be creating 28 jobs, between full-time and part-time.”

The IDA Board accepted the application on Thursday. The next step is a public hearing before the board decides on granting those tax exemptions.
