Rosendale votes support of refugee resettlement in Mid-Hudson

ROSENDALE – The Rosendale Town Board wants to welcome refugees with open arms.

The vote was unanimous in opposition to President Trump’s ban on refugees first from a number of countries with large Muslim populations, said Councilwoman Jennifer Metzger.

“It was partly our feeling to go on the record in response to the Trump administration’s policy banning refugees from, first seven countries, then six countries, we felt that this was not consistent with the US leadership on this issue, and on human rights generally,” she said.

Metzger said Rosendale welcomes refugees from all lands to live in their town.

The Town of New Paltz recently adopted a similar local law.
