Westchester village now Purple Heart Community

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON – The Village of Hastings-on-Hudson has joined the ranks of those other municipalities around the region and nation to honor Purple Heart recipients by designating the village a Purple Heart Community.

Mayor Peter Swiderski said the designation is symbolic and expresses the community’s appreciation.

“It declares the village a Purple Heart Community and indicates the support and respect for the veterans who earned that metal who were either wounded or killed in service to the country,” Swiderski said.

Several other communities in the Hudson Valley have approved similar resolution to honor those who earned the Purple Heart medal.
