Ramapo Police to conduct pedestrian safety detail

RAMAPO – In the wake of pedestrian-motor vehicle accidents on Ramapo town roads, the town police department announced it is conducting a pedestrian safety detail today in an undisclosed section of the town.

During the detail, officers, some in uniform and some in plain clothes, will be focusing on the most common violations related to pedestrian safety – disregarding a pedestrian device and failure to yield to a pedestrian.

In the most recent incident on Route 59 in Monsey, a driver struck a mother and her three children as they walked along the side of the road. The youngest child, an infant in a stroller, later died.
