Orange County to hire crime analyst

GOSHEN – Orange County Government will hire a crime analyst to assist with the sharing of data between law enforcement agencies.

County Emergency Services Commissioner Brendan Casey was asked some months ago by County Executive Steven Neuhaus to provide proposals to improve communications and Casey came up with this idea.

“One of them was to do some type of crime analyst unit that looks at crime data and helps the police departments better understand trends, can address social media issues, more technologically advanced and maybe more than a local police department can afford, so we came up with idea to do this unit,” Casey said.

Once hired, the new crime analyst would be housed in the county’s emergency services complex in Goshen.
