Two arrested in hotel shooting

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Police arrested two people in Tuesday’s shooting of another man in a hotel room at the Poughkeepsie Inn at 2625 South Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

The victim sustained a non-life-threatening wound.

A short time later, officers located the two suspects, both of whom are known to the victim.  Jarrin Mayes, 28, and Akbar McClennon, 31, both of Millerton were each charged with five counts of armed robbery and were sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail or $500,000 bond.  

Town police were assisted by City of Poughkeepsie Police, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, Arlington Fire Department and the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.

The investigation is continuing and police ask anyone with information to call them at 845-485-3670 and talk to the detective division.

Police said the incident was not a random act of violence.
