Holiday weekend was good time to write traffic tickets

MID-HUDSON – A six-hour traffic detail conducted by the State Police on the Sprain Brook Parkway resulted in 82 tickets being written, 58 of them for speeding.

The enforcement detail on July 4 also saw seven tickets for violation of the Move Over Law, five seatbelt tickets, one child restraint ticket and 11 others. One criminal arrest was made for unlawful possession of marijuana.

On Saturday, July 2, a joint law enforcement effort on the borders of the towns of Ulster and Saugerties on Route 9W and Kings Highway resulted in the issuance of 28 traffic tickets for various violations. Three others were arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana and one was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
