Man shot on Poughkeepsie street

18-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to the neck

POUGHKEEPSIE – An 18-year-old City of Poughkeepsie man was hit when several shots rang out at about 2 the area of 437 Talmadge Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.

The victim, who sustained a single gunshot wound to his neck, was said to be a senior at Poughkeepsie High School and a star on the basketball team..

Police officers on patrol heard the gunfire and proceeded to the area where they found a man down on the street with gunshot wounds.

Poughkeepsie firefighters responded with Engine 1 to assist the medics from Mobile Life that had responded to the scene. The victim was rushed to an area hospital.

There was a group of people in the area at the time of the shooting. Police are asking anyone who witnessed it ot anyone with information about the incident to call them at 845-451-7577.

Meanwhile, two people were reported shot at 25 Van Cortland Park Avenue in the City of Yonkers late Tuesday night. No other information was immediately available about that incident.
