Two charged with welfare fraud in Ulster County

KINGSTON – Ulster County officials announced the arrests of two people in unrelated cases of welfare fraud.

Gina Mucci of Marlboro was arrested by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and charged with welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing.  She allegedly failed to report income to the county Department of Social Services from August 2015 through September 15, 2015 and from September 2016 through November 2016.  As a result, she collected $1,690 in Temporary Assistance and $327 in SNAP (food stamp) benefits to which she was not entitled.

Mucci was released to appear in Ulster Town Court later.

In another case, police arrested Joan Milner of Kingston and charged her with welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing.

An investigation by the Ulster County Department of Social Services and the DA’s office found that she failed to report a change in the household composition and income to DSS from March through November 2016. As a result, Milner collected $1,285 in SNAP benefits to which she was not entitled.

She was released to reappear in court at a later date.
