Albany man charged with embezzling over $18,000 from veteran’s group

POUGHKEEPSIE – An elderly Albany man is facing a felony grand larceny charge for allegedly stealing a lot of money from a veterans’ organization.

State Police at BCI in Wappinger arrested John Manning, 82, on Thursday for allegedly embezzling more than $18,000 from a local veterans’ group between January 2014 and July 2016. 

Manning was the treasurer of the organization at the time. The incident was reported to State Police in September of last year.

Police did not specify which organization was involved.

Manning was sent to the Dutchess County Jail in liue of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.
