Gillibrand joins other senators in urging the continuation of CDBG funding

WASHINGTON – US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D, NY) joined with 41 other senators to urge federal appropriators to include $3.3 billion in federal funding for the Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant program in the next fiscal year.

The program provides federal funds for community projects including for several in the Hudson Valley.

In fiscal year 2016, CDBG grants in the region amounted to just under $46 million worth including:

  • $673,942 in Kingston
  • $551,076 in Middletown
  • $1.5 million in Mount Vernon
  • 861,734 in Newburgh
  • $1.44million in New Rochelle
  • $1.3 million in Dutchess County
  • $1.6 million in Orange County
  • $2.2 million in Rockland County
  • $787,692 in Poughkeepsie
  • $824,518 in White Plains
  • $3.3 million in Yonkers
