MONTICELLO – A 32-year-old Loch Sheldrake man has been sentenced in Sullivan County Court to four years in state prison and five years of parole for the illegal possession of an assault rifle.

District Attorney James Farrell said Ronald VanDuser pled guilty to criminal possession of a weapon as a felony and admitted to possessing a fully operational .22 caliber AK-47 assault rifle at his home in the Town of Fallsburg on April 2, 2012.

VanDuser was sentenced as a second felony offender having previously been convicted for felony possession of a forged instrument in 2008.
