Second report of suspicious vehicle in area

HYDE PARK – A 13-year-old girl was approached just before 8 a.m. in the area of Circle Drive off Route 9 in Hyde Park on Wednesday by a man driving a full size white van.

The girl told police the driver told her he had lost his dog and wanted her to get in the van so she could help him catch it. She refused and the driver pulled away and went north on Route 9.

On Tuesday, a middle school girl was approached in the Town of Hurley as she left school by a man in a white van, waiving her over to get in. She fled to a nearby school to report the incident.

In the Hyde Park case, the girl told town police the man was wearing a black puffy coat and a mesh type ski mask.

The van was described as a Ford with gold New York plates.

The police urge all parents to use due diligence and report any activity that appears to be suspicious to the police immediately.
