"Historic" Ulster County redistricting plan signed

Hein signs the new redistricting plan

KINGSTON - Ulster County Executive Michael Hein said his signing of the new redistricting plan for the countylegislature is "exciting" because "... having history take place because ofo the action of the Charter Commission and the action of the folks involved."

There was no disagreement from from Republicans or Democrats on that. "Bipartisan" was a word mentioned several times during the brief signing ceremony in the countylegislative chambers.

The new legislature, taking effect with this year's election, will have 23 single-member districts.
