Ulster Jail inmate charged with weapon possession

KINGSTON – An Ulster County Jail inmate is charged with possessing a toothbrush shaped to form a weapon, or shank.

Armando Penarrieta, 27, of 46 Cedar Street in Kingston, was charged with felony promoting prison contraband in the first degree.

He is in the jail after being sentenced for two separate misdemeanor cases, one for criminal contempt in the second degree and one for assault in the third degree.  Penarrieta is also being held on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detailer with no bail.

He was arraigned in Kingston City Court and remanded back to the county jail.
