Orange County distributes grants for Quadricentennial

GOSHEN - Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana and the Orange County Legislature announced the awarding of $45,000 in grants to county municipalities and organizations for events and projects celebrating the 2009 Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial. New York State gave the money to Hudson River counties in support of festivities for the Quad.

Sixteen organizations were awarded grants for exhibits, events, and legacy projects celebrating Henry Hudson and the river. Cities and villages that will benefit from these grants include Newburgh, Cornwall, Montgomery, Monroe, Middletown, Goshen, Highland Falls, Sugar Loaf, Arden, Warwick, and Cornwall-on-Hudson.

Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana stated, “The ongoing celebration of the Quadricentennial will be greatly enhanced by the projects our Orange County communities have planned.”

The following organizations received the Quadricentennial grants:

  • Historical Society of Newburgh Bay
  • Kings Theatre Company
  • Museum Village
  • Newburgh Rowing Club
  • Orange County Historical Society
  • Orange County Veterans Coalition
  • PEP Productions
  • River Waves Project
  • Thrall Library
  • Town of Warwick
  • Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson
  • Village of Highland Falls
  • Wallkill River School
