Orange County grants third extension on Camp LaGuardia deal

GOSHEN – An agreement between the Mountco development company and Orange County to sell the company the Camp LaGuardia property was supposed to have been completed by the end of this year and with just weeks left, the county has granted Mountco a third extension.

The additional 60 days is not because of anything the developer has done, County Attorney David Darwin told the County Legislature’s Physical Services Committee Wednesday.

“The extension that is being granted now is to allow an additional period of time for the county to figure out a way within which it can provide the assurance of sewer capacity,” he said.

The former New York City homeless shelter that Orange County purchased is planned to be sold to Mountco for redevelopment.

County Legislator Jeffrey Berkman told Darwin that he is frustrated at the delays in resolving the sale.

This is the third extension the county has granted in contract talks.
