Occupant OK when car bursts into flames

TAPPAN – The sole occupant of a car that burst into flames on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Tappan at mid-morning on Saturday escaped uninjured.

The fuel tank ruptured with gas flowing into a storm drain, officials said.

Orangeburg firefighters were called in to assist Tappan extinguish the blaze and clean up the fuel spill.
